It begins

Ken Kraft and Amy Kaltman got engaged, officially, on November 6, 2005. It seems silly really that it took a ring to make it real, because it seems we knew we would be doing this relatively early on. We talked and talked about it until we could talk no more. Ken had to take some kind of action -- so he did. Ken is good that way. He sees a goal, a task, a purpose and this drives him. One of the things I love the most.

I am wearing his signet ring until he finds the diamond he feels is the one I should be wearing. I am OK with that. The signet ring is a sizeable gold ring and it fits my ring finger just right. I will admit, though, I am looking forward to something that sparkles .

Now the fun starts. If you can call it fun. We have to start planning "THE EVENT" or wedding, whichever you prefer. We are vascilating, currently, on what kind of wedding to have. So I come to you all, gentle readers -- Big wedding? Small wedding? Very small wedding with big party to follow? Elope?

At this point, we are looking at October 2006 for the wedding. Ken's family, and my own, a well as several of our friends will have to travel in for whatever we decide to do. I am torn between the little girl who wants the fairy tale and the adult who is buying a home. Input is beyond welcome.

Ah. Well Amy, we've talked about this a lot. I think you can find something in between the fairy tale and the house-buying adult. You deserve a memorable day - if you decide simple is best for you, it will still be memorable.

My best advice: You can't and you won't make everyone happy with all the wedding details you are about to make decisions on. Focus on what makes YOU as a couple happy above all else. Spoken from experience!

I think I have put so much input in that you guys are already sick of it :)

Nice name of the blog, was it named after the cartoon as well?

Teri, it happens to be one of my FAVE cartoons. Maybe there should be some allusion.

I like simple. It's intimate. You invite family and close friends... they're the ones that really matter, anyway.
